Challenge Bookmarker

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my very first bookmarker :) It wasn't what I set out to make, but then I found the challenge on the Cricut Cardz Challenge blog and thought, I could do that! (it turns out I didn't post or link it on time for that particular challenge, oops, lol)
While hopping around I found two other challenges I liked, one to use only scraps (I'm always up for that challenge!), and the other to use the B is for Boy or Sugar and Spice cartridge. Since B is for Boy is my newest cartridge and I still have yet to use it, I had to do that one too. I ended up completing all three challenges with one project, thanks to the great tag that's included in B is for Boy :)

These are my two scrap drawers. One is for solid colors and the other for patterened paper.
I'm guessing it's because I've got Twilight on in the background, but I ended up going with a darker color scheme then originally anticipated. Totally unexpected with this cartridge, but I actually like the way it turned out :) It's currently marking my spot in Breaking Dawn, which I'm reading for the second time :)
I cut the tag out of chipboard before covering with the patterened paper to make it more sturdy. I flipped the image to cut the back black piece. The circle and letter B are a couple of punch outs I had laying around (B for my last name, Beach). I embossed the third layer and added the black ribbon to dress it up a bit (I taped it down to the back with my ATG gun to keep it in place).

Recipe:
  • Tag, with all layers, from the B is for Boy cartridge cut at 4 inches
  • 1 inch circle cut out
  • 3/4 inch letter of choice for the center

Thanks for stopping by! :)

  3. Hey Libby, I love when you can use those scraps, I get really lazy sometimes, and I don't use them, but I should use them a lot more. Carri at http://wwwDoubleclickconnections.blogspot.com/has a video on her blog about after you cut something on your cricut, use the scraps while they are out to cut another one, and then you are 1 step ahead next time you have to make something quick!! Check it out, it is a great idea!! Karen<3
