Butterfly Birthday Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!! And welcome to the butterfly themed blog hop being held in honor of our wonderful hostess Laura's birthday! (Happy Birthday sweetie!) I'm so honored to be a part of such a fabulous group of women :) And I'm so happy you've decided to join us! If you've come here from Trish over at www.techniquesbytrish.blogspot.com then you're in the right spot. If not, head on over to Laura's blog at http://www.makinprettythings.com to start at the beginning. I'll have our full line up at the end of this post for ya just in case.

Now on to my projects:

The first thing I made for this hop was a gift-card holder birthday card:
The gift card slides in through the flower shaped punch on the upper-right side of the card. Pretty neat, huh? :)
Now I'm not crazy about this part, but here's how the inside came out:
I used one of Momo's youtube tutorials for how to cut and fold the base. You can see it here: http://madebymomo.blogspot.com/2010/05/episode-46-gift-card-holder.html

Then I decided to make an even bigger project and ended up with my second chipboard book :)

This was made for my very good friend Lynn's baby girl who's due in July. I used the CDS so I apologize for not having exact measurements of everything (but if you'd like them I do have the file saved). I used Lyrical Letters, Simply Charming, Storybook, and Create-A-Critter, along with paper from the DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies stack, face stamps from Peechy Keens Wide Eyed Kid Assortment set, some eyelets, and twine to tie it all together :)

Thanks so much for joining us on our hop :) I hope you are all enjoying everyones projects!

Now for some blog candy!

For one lucky winner (who will be chosen by random.org Monday morning), I have got a Super Secret Surprise Package! It could be a cartridge, could be a bundle of crafty goodies, could be a gift card! It's a surprise! You don't have to be a follower to win, but are always welcome :) All you have to do is leave me a comment on this post, and be sure to include some way for me to contact you in case you are the lucky winner :)

Thanks again for joining us!

    Merci

Hi everyone! I finally used one of my "extra stash" pink and black cards. I sent it to my bloghop winner Rexann as a thank you card with her prize. I think it came out really cute :)
The poodle is from Create-A-Critter cut at  2 1/4 inches, and I'm sorry I didn't write down the size of the phrase, but it's from the same page as the poodle

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

    Butterfly Birthday Blog Hop Practice

Happy Saturday everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by my blog. I've been getting a lot of very sweet comments and awards, and I just wanted to say that I really do appreciate each and every one :) Sometimes I think about just stopping my blog because I think who really wants to see my stuff? Then I get a sweet comment, it puts a smile on my face, and I'm reminded of just how much I really do enjoy not only sharing my work, but being allowed to share all of yours as well :) You ladies are the best! And I am incredibly grateful :)

I am excited to share with you all today that I have been invited to participate in my third blog hop! :) Just in case you haven't noticed the new button on my page, it's a Butterfly themed Birthday Blog Hop :) It's being hosted by Laura over at MakinPrettyThings.com If you have never heard of her, definitely check out her blog when you get some free time. Her work really is amazing and I promise you won't be disappointed :)

Since there is so much you could do with butterflies I figured I had better start practicing ;) I decided to try to go with an elegant, classy looking card, and this is what I came up with:
inside: I couldn't find a "Happy Birthday" stamp or message in my stash with font that I liked for it, so I left it blank for now):
For how simple (and cricutless) it was to make, I think it turned out pretty good :)

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope to see you here hopping with us April 21st! :)

    Grandma's Garden of Love

Hi everyone. I've got a pretty easy project today that I think most kids would like to make (with mommy's help with the glue of course). I made this for my husband's grandmother. She's been in the hospital several times over the past couple of months with CHF and I wanted to make something to make her smile, and nothing makes her smile more than her great grandchildren :) I call it "Grandma's Garden of Love"
I didn't have time to go out to the store for supplies so I had to use what I could find in my stash. I think if I had more time to plan this out, and get some more supplies it could look even better. I used pipe cleaners, pom poms, and a glue gun to make the flowers, then I stuck them into a piece of styrofoam in the pail, and covered the top with river rocks.
I got the pail from Taget's dollar spot around Christmas time on clearence. There was a reindeer on it so I used white vinyl for the scallop to cover it.
I cut the "I love you" phrase from Lyrical Letters and cut the "I" off, then replace it with "We." The letters, other scallops, and hearts are all cut from vinyl (I think it would have looked much better in a different color but this teal is all that I had).
These are her three great grandchildren. My son, J.R., is on the right in the blue flower :)

Of course, I also made her a very quick get well card to go along with it. The "get well soon" is from Cindy Loo, cut at 2 inches.

    Thanks for stopping by! :)
